Asheville, NC to Mountain Air Resort, NC
42 miles

Today turned out a lot better than expected.   We had a pretty good treat for breakfast today.  Katie and us ate at the Cracker Barrel.  Katie being the only responsible one of the group had to go to work by Monday so she took off the DC.  It was great to see her.

My map of Asheville and surrounding area was apparently outdated.  That means my route for the day was absolutely no good.  We were in a pickle.  A nice fellow cyclist we met at a gas station (he was pumping Bio-Fuel at a gas station) sensed the frustation from us.  He was nice enough to buy us a new updated map and pointed the way out.   That map saved the day.  If your reading this, thank you.
We rolled into Mountain Air Country Club where Deb Puckett (friend of Glenn) owns a condo.  Since she lives on top of a mountain, we decided to leave our bikes at the bottom and get a ride to the top.  If you were here to witness the hill, you would agree that it's not cheating.  We are surrounded by mountains and they are big.  We can see Mt.Mitchell, Mt. Pisgah and Grandfather mountain from here.  We sat out on the deck to see the sunset. Deb cooked up a delicious meal and we vaccumed everything up.  Thank you Deb

Every direction from here on out to Berea, Ky is all big mountains.  I just have to remind myself that we chose to do this and it is a blast for the most part.

We are on track to be in Anchorage by Aug 18th.  Its hard to believe we been doing this almost a month now.  Time truly flies and sometimes, I don't know what day of the week it is or the date.  Kind of nice actually.

Good night
