Nyssa, OR to Ironside, OR
65 miles

Two passes and bunch of headwinds brought us to a halt at 65 miles. We
wanted to get a little further because Ironside has no stores of any
kind but our bodies told us to stop and we listened.

As we got close to Ironside, we saw in the distance what looked like a
person running with a baby stroller. I was thinking what are they doing
walking a baby out in the middle of a desert. As it turns out, it was
a Swedish man running across America and he had his personal
belongings on a baby stroller. He threw on some high pressure tires on the
stroller to minimize resistance.

He, I forgot his name, is running from Florence, OR to Virginia Beach, VA.
He is also 59 years old and he averages from 30 to 45 miles per
day. I asked why he chose to do something so difficult and his answer
was he loved running and it made him feel completely free.

I started to think about that statement and I've come to a realization
that I feel the same way.
I love to ride and the feeling that I get as I pound away on the pedals
feels like nothing on earth. I love riding.

Coming into Ironside, we had no where to stay obviously. The town is
very small. While Glenn tried to score a shower from a sprinkler on
the side of the road, I rolled down the street. The last house before
exiting town, Dardy was working out in her lawn. I pulled over and told
her my name and what we were doing. Before I could even ask if I could
camp on her lawn, she jumped in and said we could stay in the guest
house. Luck prevails again. Thanks Dardy and Dan. She even has a
Kubota

Good night.
